Chopsticks or Pop-Sticks - Inventions Game

I got a little tired of downloading ppt templates and games that don't work , so I decided to make my own that do. Chopsticks or Pop-Sticks is a fun-filled game that will get your students discussing and debating where in the world particular inventions come from. 20 inventions, bonus questions, bonus points, nationalities and facts. This game is so fun the students won't even realize that they are practicing reading, comprehension, speech, team work and decision-making skills. It's a perfect treat for your class. I recommend this for middle school aged ESL students and up.

The game involves splitting your class into teams (I use 4 teams). Each team takes turns in choosing a numbered square which opens up an invention of the world.

The team has two choices...Chopsticks (they think it was invented in China) or Pop-Sticks (they think it was invented somewhere else in the world)

If they choose correctly it will show how many points they win, If they are wrong they gain no points.

Click on the picture of the invention will take you to the short simple facts section about the invention and a chance to answer a bonus question for 1 point. I usually open the Bonus point to the class if 1) the teams first guess about the invention was wrong or 2) they guessed the right country but don't know the answer to the bonus question or guess wrong.

A simple arrow click takes you back to the 20 inventions choose a square page ready for the next teams choice.







Whilst this pptx does show you the amount of points the team gets if they are correct, it won't tally the scores. You will need to manually do this yourself on the blackboard or secretly on paper.
